If you thought it was just you, you are wrong. It has been raining a lot these past two weeks in Wisconsin. The 1 to 6 inches in some parts across was much needed after the dry summer that has left the majority of the state in at least a Moderate drought. Below is a image of the drought monitor only one week ago.
From this above graphic at least 99 percent of the state is under at least an abnormally dry drought and as much as 10 percent of the state is under extreme drought conditions, that leaves the rest of the state some were in between. Although, after the past two weeks of heavy rainfall (we will use two weeks of rain fall data due to the time the drought monitor stops collecting data and when it is actually published) our drought conditions have improved nicely. Next, we will take a look at the rain fall amounts from the past two weeks across the state.
Now, take a look at how it has affected our drought monitor for the badger state.
When you look at the numbers you can see that the extreme drought has dropper by 62%, which is great news. There will be a few more days of healthy rain this week and, we should be embracing this with many winter forecasts showing a drier than usual winter in store.
